Welcome! I'm glad you're here.
Hi! I'm Ceara Corry, also known as Cee, The Sex Lady. I am a North Carolinian by birth, a social worker by trade, and a Black woman by grace!
When I’m asked why I became a sexual wellness educator and sex/relationship therapist, my answer usually includes two elements: shadows of the past and my hope for the future. I am a Black woman who was born and raised in the same Eastern North Carolina county where my great-great-great grandfather was born enslaved.
I’m a sexual trauma survivor and grew up in a “complicated” family dynamic. Long before I had the professional language to describe my experiences, I felt the impact of them in my mind, body, spirit, and relationships which prompted me to consume as much media as I could that contained stories similar to mine; unknowingly, the foundation for being laid for what would become my career and life’s work as I slowly became “the person I needed.”
My story is not entirely unusual, especially for Black people, communities of color, and LGBTQIA+ folks who bear the additional burden of oppression on many levels and are at greater risk of experiencing violence and trauma. This is what fuels my passion for sexual and relationship wellness and motivates me to prioritize the needs of historically marginalized groups. I’m especially invested in supporting sexual trauma survivors, women, and couples.
Nearly a decade ago on the campus of UNC Charlotte, I was exposed to the world of comprehensive, inclusive, and honest sexuality education for the very first time. What a relief this was for me and my own healing journey! I decided to dip my toes into the sexual wellness profession as a Victim’s Advocate at a children’s advocacy center and the rest is becoming history! I’ve been fortunate to serve in various arenas of sexual wellness including anti-trafficking work, school and community-based sex education as a sex and relationship therapist.
